Quinn and Bill Mercer were named Ennis Lions Club Citizens of the Year for 2018 last week for their charitable donations and volunteer efforts around Madison County. Here is their announcement: The Ennis Lions Club is excited to announce its 2018 Citizens of the Year - Bill and Quinn Mercer. The Mercers were selected for this honor because they exemplify the Lions International motto "We Serve". Bill and Quinn are the owners of Re/Max Mountain Property where they have trademarked the phrase "We Give Where We Live"® In the past few years, they have donated well in excess of $ 60,000. to charities and organizations in the Madison Valley, Ruby Valley and Jefferson River Valley. Bill and Quinn enjoy giving in kind quiet ways. For example, they hosted everyone's lunch on St Patricks day at the Senior Center, and gave everyone a good luck lottery ticket. They bought all the Veterans a round of drinks at the Long Branch Memorial Day Dinner and they hosted the movie "Taking Chance" at the Madison Theatre in honor of Flag Day. Their love for their country and community is evident in many ways.
Re/Max Mountain Property sponsored the movie "Taking Chance" on Sunday. The movie was well attended, and everyone was treated to popcorn and a drink.
Before the movie started, Bill Mercer gave donations to the following organizations as a part of our "We Give Where We Live"® campaign:

What Do Home Buyers Really Want?
by Bill Mercer, Broker Re/Max Mountain Property
We are entering a Sellers market here in Ennis, and while price is always a driving factor, there are many other things that buyers are looking for:
These days, many Americans are considering smaller homes. The most online searches are for homes in the area of 1400-2600 square feet.
Some of the other amenities that potential buyers are looking for are:
Master bedroom suites with walk-in closets and separate shower and tub combinations.
Energy efficient windows, appliances, and lighting ( with an emphasis on natural lighting).
A large linen closet located near the bedrooms.
A central living area with high (at least 9 feet ceilings) that includes the kitchen, dining room and a living room or great room.
Split zone heating with programmable thermostats so that rooms that are unused can be closed off to save energy.
Energy efficient insulation throughout with extra insulation in the attic.
High end upgrades such as granite countertops and wood or tile flooring.
Lots of storage space. People have a lot of stuff, that's why the storage business is booming.
These are some tips to keep in mind if you will be building or renovating your home.
At minimum, you will want 3 bedrooms 2 baths. Even single buyers often want a guest room and a den/office.
If you will be adding a garage, always consider an attached garage or at least a covered walk way between the home and garage. This makes carrying groceries, children, furniture etc so much easier. And always make the garage or any other addition as large as your budget allows.
